Chef Kayla-Ann says:

Our restaurant so close to the sea is the perfect setting to enjoy Creation’s cool-climate Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon blend grown in the maritime wine ward of Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge. I love the Creation wines. They are full of passion, time and thought. As with food it is a case of ‘what you put in is what you get out’. I feel their philosophy is similar to mine in that they use the best of what is available to them and are also concerned about sustainability.

Praise for Creation Art of Pinot Noir from Tim Akin

We are pleased to announce that our Creation Art of Pinot Noir 2015 has received a 95 point rating from the authoritative Master of Wine, Tim Atkin in his annual South African Report. He describes the wine as “very European in style, reflecting Jean-Claude Martin’s origins perhaps. Serious, concentrated, yet refreshing and nuanced, it’s the best Pinot yet from Creation.” No less than seven Creation wines received 90 points and more in Tim Atkin’s report.

Creation among Circle of Wine Writers, UK

On 5 September Creation’s Carolyn Martin and Dieter Odendaal hosted a wine tasting and dinner for the Circle of Wine Writers (CWW) at the High Timber restaurant in London. CWW is an association of authors, broadcasters, journalists, bloggers, photographers and lecturers professionally engaged in communicating about wines and spirits. WOZANI with the Three Wine Men

Another highlight of Carolyn and Dieter’s UK visit was the WOZANI Three Wine Men Tasting. The event took place at South Africa House, Trafalgar Square, London and was fully booked. The Three Wine Men (Oz Clarke (wine writer), Tim Atkin (Master of Wine) and Olly Smith (TV presenter and wine columnist)) introduced a diverse selection of some of South Africa’s best wines, including the Creation range.wozaniwinemen

Creation Excels at RisCura White-Hot Wine Awards

riscurawineawardsWe’re pleased to report that the Creation 2015 Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon blend scored a proud 91 points at the recent RisCura White Hot Wine Awards. Convened by Winemag.co.za., South Africa’s top performing Bordeaux-style white blends were announced at the official awards ceremony on 7 September. This year’s competition drew 35 entries from 31 producers and the average score was 89.2. Only 15 wines (43% of the line-up) were rated 90 or higher on the 100-point scale. The judges described the Creation 2015 Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon as follows: “An exotic nose showing flowers, blackcurrant, citrus, peach and granadilla. Rich and ripe on the palate – concentrated fruit offset by zippy acidity. Makes a statement.”

Classic Chardonnay Celebration in Hermanus

Over the past number of years the Hemel-en-Aarde has become famous for its Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. And now the producers of this unique wine area have decided to share their beautiful Chardonnay with wine lovers at a dedicated Chardonnay festival. The Classic Chardonnay Celebration takes place at the Thatch House on Saturday, 19 November and will focus on the exceptional quality and distinctiveness of the Hemel-en-Aarde’s cool-climate Chardonnays. The first thing I would like to say in my review is make sure you book your place at this Wine Estate – it is very popular and I wouldn’t like you to miss out on perhaps one of the finest wine estates in South Africa. This Wine Estate is located in the Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley near to the top of the Hermanus Wine Route. We were staying in Hemel-en-Aarde Village at the Robin’s Nest Guest House and we were told that this was one of the best vineyards to visit. We were also recommended to book an appointment to try the Tapas and Wine Pairing session. So we drove up to the Creation Wine Estate in the late afternoon and took a table overlooking the Onrus Mountains. Each course that was served was paired with one of Creation’s wines, and each course that came out was better than the last. I did lose track a little which wine was best with each course, but it was truly an exceptional experience. I think my favourite wine had to be the Syrah Grenache, we took two bottles with us, and the Pinot Noir was so full of flavour. Due to the limited space in our suitcase we unfortunately couldn’t bring more back with us to the UK. This was a real treat for us – I will be returning the next time I am in Hermanus.

We had the most amazing tasting lunch yesterday with all 4 grandparents and my husband and I and our 16w old son. My in laws have been desperate to visit Creation for some time but last year the road was shut so they were unable to. From the minute you turn into the estate it is beautiful and peaceful. The garden outside the restaurant and the views are stunning. As a new mother I was stunned that not only was the restaurant modern and elegant, but there was a separate side room immediately visible for children. So I knew for the first time I could relax, if my son became upset I could escape somewhere to play with him and not upset the rest of the guests. The fact that so many staff were willing to help and take him for walks round the restaurant or play with him meant that I could fully enjoy the experience. And what an experience! The tapas pairing was delicious and so cleverly paired. Compliments to the chef! The explanations surrounding the wines, how the terroir and the climate favour the Pinot noir grape and also how this area can pick their grapes at different times in comparison to Stellenbosch and hence why the wines taste so different was fascinating. Having drunk several wines from this area, I have found a new favourite. Creation, the Art of Chardonnay. The biggest thank you to everyone, but particularly Karlé (and Annie for baby-sitting) for the most special of afternoons! The Smiths and van der Merwes.
