In this popular series we feature selected sommeliers from top restaurants around the world. Each chooses his or her favourite Creation wine, tells us why and recommends a matching dish. This week we welcome Zimkhitha Mshiya from the highly regarded Maslow Hotel in Sandton.

Zimkhitha says:

I rate Creation among South Africa’s top wineries. Healthy grapes are a prerequisite for quality wines and Creation’s virus-free vineyards coupled with cellarmaster Jean-Claude Martin’s dedication result in truly beautiful wines.

Welcome to our Little Piece of Paradise

Situated some 18 kilometres from the coastal resort of Hermanus, Creation is more than a wine farm; it is a glorious destination where a warm welcome awaits young and old. Click here to make a reservation. Here are a few comments recently made by our visitors:

We regularly visit Creation Wines and always enjoy the setting, the food and of course the excellent wines. On Saturday, 23 July, we decided on the spur of the moment to visit without making a reservation. As could be expected all the tables were booked, but the friendly staff offered to accommodate our party of six at a table where the guests would arrive in an hour and a half. We had no qualms to be the Travelling Whatevers as long as we could sample the wines. Carolyn personally ensured this travelling party had a fantastic time. We cannot thank her enough for her generosity and personal attention. As usual the wines lived up to the name of this beautiful valley – Hemel-en-Aarde. And the proverbial cherry on top was when Carolyn introduced us to their Port – only to be released in November – paired with their deconstructed Tiramisu. Highly recommended.

We had so much fun at Creation. The food was fantastic and the wines are all gorgeous. I can definitely recommend the 8 course ‘tapas’ tasting. Although don’t let the title ‘tapas’ put you off it’s more than enough food and the flavours are incredible. What we really liked was the relaxed atmosphere, not as stuffy as some other tasting venues in Cape Town. Really worth the value.

I was totally overwhelmed with the experience we had at Creation. The venue is beautiful, the staff so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and the wines outstanding and then finally, the food. The wine and food pairing was just phenomenal and I honestly believe it can compete with the likes of Pot Luck Club where I have dined a number of times. The food creations were delicious with great and interesting combinations. Such an incredible experience.
