Sauvignon Blanc has been described as “one of the most recognisable aromatic cultivars with top tier popularity status”. It is what it is, consumers love it and it might well be the safest wine to order in a pub, or as a starter in a restaurant due to the consistent quality.

Another reason why it is such an excellent precursor to a meal is that the passion fruit aromas produced by the 3-MH and 3-MHA thiols found in Sauvignon Blanc, create a mouth-watering sensation – even before one tastes the wine. These aromas release digestive enzymes preparing us for a meal.

With flavour profiling all the rage and as food becomes fresher and lighter so wine styles attributed to particular cultivars and terroirs are becoming more relevant, the world over. In terms of wine styles, Chardonnay for example could be regarded as the ‘Home Coming Queen’ and Sauvignon Blanc as the ‘Flirt’!

Well, it is time for our local Sauvignon Blanc to flirt a little and that means getting social! So if you wish to follow @creationwines  or #savvy_blanc when enjoying a glass, simply share your experience of this delightfully fresh and fragrant cultivar by tweeting a photo and caption and stand a chance to win a fabulous Creation tapas pairing for four!
