Celebrating Merlot with Favourites from Creation Culinary Team
In honour of Merlot Month, Chef Francois created his delectable Pulled Brisket of Beef with Carrot Purée, Smoked Pickling Onion, Beef Tongue ‘Bacon’, Rosemary Cream and Shiitake Powder to be paired with the Creation Merlot.

The Nissan TrailSeeker MTB Series took place in the Hemel-en-Aarde this past weekend. Participants stopped at Creation to fuel up for the remaining part of the race.
Creation Team takes part in Night Run
A few members of the Creation team recently took part in the Cashkows 10 km night run stretching from the Hermanus New Harbour to Dutchies at Grotto Beach. We are especially proud of Kirsten Myburgh (a member of our cellar team) who took first place in the men’s division with a time of 39 minutes.
Gold for Creation Art of Pinot Noir at 2016 Six Nations Wine Challenge
This unique event boasts a judging panel of six of the most influential voices in the world of wine. Creation Abroad: Never a Dull Moment!
October once again sets a very busy and exciting schedule for both JC and Carolyn Martin as this vibrant couple take on numerous commitments in Europe. One of the events was a tasting at House of Turin in Forfar, Scotland hosted by Carolyn. Classic Chardonnay Celebration in Hermanus
The Hemel-en-Aarde has become famous for its Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. And now the producers of this unique wine area have decided to share their beautiful Chardonnay with wine lovers at a dedicated Chardonnay festival. The Classic Chardonnay Celebration takes place at the Thatch House on Saturday, 19 November and will focus on the exceptional quality and distinctiveness of the Hemel-en-Aarde’s cool-climate Chardonnays. Here are some comments recently made by our visitors:
A few mates and I (including a Sommelier in the making) headed out Saturday two weeks ago on a “wing and a prayer” to go and have lunch at Creation Wines and then walk it off along the whale path in Hermanus. It was dicey as Creation was (unsurprisingly) fully booked, and we ended up 4th on the wait list. I had a plan B at another Hemel en Aarde eatery but it wasn’t quite in the same league as Creation. I called Creation rather hopefully en route to Hermanus, only to discover we were still on the wait-list. Lo and behold about 30 minutes prior to getting there, the charming Fikile calls from Creation to say they have a cancelled table for us. Joy all around. Off we swept to Creation up near top of the Hemel en Aarde Valley (Valley of Heaven and Earth). Creation Restaurant and winery and the valley names all begin to make sense as you arrive. It’s what one imagines the biblical heaven and earth to look like during the process of The Creation. We were welcomed warmly as if we were expected all along. We selected the 8 course tapas and wine pairing menu. The most beautifully presented mouthfuls of food arrived one after the next, each paired with a specific Creation wine; single cultivars and blends in red and white. The Viognier was for me particularly memorable though the Creation family are hard to fault in any of their varietals of blends. Service is slick, friendly, informative and hugely knowledgeable. Jo Ann was outstanding as our server; friendly without being familiar and professional without being stuffy. The 8 Tapas portions of beautiful food with 8 tastings of wine is about as much as one can manage. The pairings are cleverly married, and other pairing options offered are suited to fit appetites and pockets of all sizes. Value for money is exceptional. During the meal a heavy bank of low rolling cloud moved in over the valley. We felt as if we had been suspended in the air over the valley. I cannot imagine a better combination of such exceptional wines, food and service in such beautiful surroundings on Heritage Day, in the beautiful Cape. Miss this experience at your peril. Book in advance and go and walk the whale path in Hermanus afterwards. We arrived and left too late to go Whalespotting, but we’ll go back for that again before the end of whale-spotting season around the end of Oct. Have a nominated non-drinking driver or use a minibus and driver for the day. Advisable if you intend to have any of the extensive food and wine pairings. This was a Heritage Day not to be forgotten. Don’t hesitate. Book and go!

Our friends recommended Creation and reserved a table for a light lunch. We tasted a range of wines and had both a cheese platter and a ham based platter. The wines and the food were exquisite and the service was excellent. Will definitely come back for a longer lunch one day!

I love Creation! I’ve been fortunate to visit a number of South African wine estates, including several others in Hemel en Aarde, and Creation offers the best experience by far. They offer a wide range of wines, all very good and many excellent. The staff members are very knowledgeable and welcoming. Lots of food and wine pairing options, all great. My favorite is the wine and tapas pairing because of the range of flavors, but the three-course meal is also very good. I did the chef’s secret pairing for the first time on my most recent visit. It was absolutely delicious and great fun – there are secret ingredients to guess and, as always at Creation, really inventive flavor combinations. From my experience, there’s not a better wine estate option than that offered by Creation. GO!
