Creating Wines of Distinction

Creation in Switzerland: Of Food and Wine and All Things Fine

To Creation co-owner Carolyn Martin some of the greatest pleasures of travel are meeting up with old friends, making new friends and trying things out of the ordinary. Two weeks ago she reported on her travels through Brittany and Burgundy. This week she describes the Martin family’s experiences in Switzerland.

Creation Sumac Grenache 2015 – only 500 Bottles left

One of the exciting opportunities arising from Creation’s now fully mature, virus-free vineyards is the ability to select exceptionally high quality pockets of grapes that provide the ultimate expression of terroir and release them in a single vineyard bottling.

Only seven barrels of the 2015 Creation Sumac Grenache were made and the last bottles are selling out fast. The vineyard is named for the exotic African spice, Sumac, which is characterised by a certain brightness and liveliness which is also evident in the wine. Deep crimson with a secret glimmer of purple to capture the imagination, the wine offers intense aromas of cranberry, exotic spice and nuances of dark rose petal. It is a cooler climate Grenache with a feast of bright pomegranate, red currant, cracked peppercorn and a sprinkling of sumac lingering on the velvety palate.

Spicing Up Winter

A gorgeous recipe for Fried Chicken with Spices and Harissa Mayonnaise recently appeared in Woolworths’ TASTE magazine. The dish is recommended with Creation Viognier, an elegant wine with attractive notes of apricot, white peach and coconut. Click here for the recipe and here to order the Creation Viognier online.

Cellars-Hohenhort Team at Creation

At Creation we regularly receive sommeliers from all corners of the earth, but it is not often that we get to share our little piece of paradise first hand with the whole Cellars-Hohenhort team! It was a pleasure to host them and we look forward to doing this again. If you are a sommelier who would like to learn more about Creation, feel free to contact Carolyn at carolyn@creationwines.com.

Willie Botha’s Art at Creation

Creation Wines has been dedicated to supporting the arts ever since its inception in 2002 and is at present curating a truly exciting installation of sculptures by the gifted South African artist, Willie Botha.

This week we’re proud to feature his evocative Show me the way which depicts a father figure with his daughter on his shoulders. “Children are usually the ones showing grownups to open their eyes to appreciate the small things in the world,” says Willie.

Welcome to our Little Piece of Paradise

This is a slick must do involving 8 wines with 7 food pairings and provided an enjoyable introduction to the farm. Well presented by Karle, assisted by Margaret she had our attention from Chapter 1 and we left some 2 hours later well fed and having tasted most of their wines. Good innovative food, wine, setting and friendly, professional and knowledgeable staff.
