Ever since its inception in 2002, the trendsetting Creation Wines has been dedicated to supporting the arts. And now this Estate on the picturesque Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge looks forward to participating in the Hermanus FynArts Festival to be held from 5 to 16 June 2015. The Festival, an all-encompassing fair of visual arts, literature, music and award-winning food and wine, is now in its third year and promises to be yet another glittering success.
Hermanus FynArts is hosted in assorted venues in and around the coastal town of Hermanus – one of them being Creation Wines where the Estate will be showcasing a truly exciting installation of sculptures by the South African artist, Roberto Vaccaro, between 4 and 16 June 2015.
Based in the Garden Route area, Roberto Vaccaro predominantly sculpts South African wildlife, using scrap metal as a medium. He was introduced to metal as a medium for art making by his grandfather, Vincenzo Vaccaro, and made his mark as an artist in 2011 with his first two works – Scar Tissue and Apex of Evolution I.
Over the past few years the talented Roberto has exhibited his art in numerous places across South Africa, including the George Botanical Gardens, the Landmark Foundation 10 Year Anniversary in Cape Town as well as the Grahamstown Arts Festival. His work has strong conservation significance with the organically mechanised sculptures reflecting the symbiotic relationship between man and nature. The found metal used for these pieces has been tortured and welded and intricately assembled to symbolise the vulnerability of these figures.
“Creation is committed to creating wines of distinction. In providing a stage for local artists, we extend our commitment to also offer art lovers the opportunity of viewing art of distinction. As proud custodians of our little piece of paradise on the Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge, we leave no stone unturned to protect and conserve its natural resources. The conservation sentiments expressed by Roberto Vaccaro’s work reflect our dedication to sustainability and we therefore take pride in showcasing his exceptional sculptures during the FynArts Festival.”

Presented in association with The Landmark Foundation, the exhibition will take place in Creation’s exquisite fynbos garden. A special FynArts lunch menu served in the cosy fire-side ambience of the Creation Tasting Room will be on offer.
