Last week saw the long-awaited Nice Visits Creation dinner taking place in the Tasting Room. One of the highlights of the event was the newly released Elation Méthode Cap Classique.
The dinner showcased the talents of Kevin Grobler (Head Chef at Jan Restaurant in Nice) in collaboration with the Creation Culinary Team. Another member of the ‘Jan’ team joined in the festivities: their sommelier Michael Schmitt. Those not lucky enough to attend could follow the highlights on the Creation Facebook Live Video Stream and a great time was had by all!
This week we report back on the canapés – a magnificently styled and presented spread of sea-fresh oysters served with coriander and strawberry reduction pearls accompanied by delectable, feather-light foie gras macaroons. These delicacies were expertly prepared by Kevin and the Creation Culinary Team and perfectly paired with the Creation Viognier and the Elation MCC. Matches made in heaven!
The maiden Elation Méthode Cap Classique is an exquisitely crafted blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Classified ‘Brut Nature’, the wine contains only natural residual sugar and is delightfully crisp with a generous dash of exuberance and an elegant touch of finesse. Pour a glass and watch the tiny beads perform a lively cabaret. Then take a sniff … the gentlest aromas of lemon blossom and dried apple emerge, followed by wild strawberry and hints of fresh brioche. On the palate well-integrated flavours of grapefruit and dried apple are accompanied by fresh minerality – elusively savoury like wet pebbles on a beach. An utter joy to the senses, the Elation MCC is the perfect way to celebrate with family and friends over the coming Festive Season.
