Last week we reported back on the memorable Nice Visits Creation dinner which took place in the Tasting Room on 17 November. It represented a unique collaboration between Kevin Grobler (Head Chef at Jan Restaurant in Nice) and the Creation Culinary Team and we focused on the magnificently styled and scrumptious canapés served at the event.

This week we regale you with the culinary gems served for starters, the main course and dessert. For starters chef Jaco Grové of the Creation Culinary Team delighted the guests with his fresh and summery ‘Story of Peas’. Chef Kevin did likewise with his magnificent trout with vanilla fennel, cumin and lemon verbena.

Elation MCC. Celebrate Life!

For those who missed last week’s newsletter … Our maiden Méthode Cap Classique, aptly named ‘Elation’, has just been released and is the perfect way to celebrate with family and friends over the coming Festive Season.

Elation is an exquisitely crafted blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Classified ‘Brut Nature’, the wine contains only natural residual sugar and is delightfully crisp with a generous dash of exuberance and an elegant touch of finesse. Pour a glass and watch the tiny beads perform a lively cabaret. Then take a sniff … the gentlest aromas of lemon blossom and dried apple emerge, followed by wild strawberry and hints of fresh brioche. Creation: Kiss and Tell

Join us for an intriguing tasting of a series of European Pinot Noirs alongside our own at the 4th International Hemel-en-Aarde Pinot Noir Celebration. The tasting will be conducted by guest sommelier Jörg Pfützner and Jean-Claude Martin and promises to surprise and delight the senses. This will be followed by a scrumptious brunch pairing, showcasing the talents of the Creation Culinary Team. The event will start at 10:00 on Saturday 28 January 2017. To secure your seat, please make an EFT direct into the Hemel-en-Aarde Winegrowers Association account and use the word “PINOT” and your cell no as reference. In addition, please email us a proof of payment to and include either a contact email or cell number so we can get in touch to secure further details such as dietary requirements and your choice of wineries to visit on the Saturday. Sunset Menu Times

With the Festive Season around the corner we’re pleased to announce that our Tapas Sunset Menu will be served from 16 December 2016 until 6 January 2017 and that we will be open until 19h00 during this period.

Please note that Creation reserves the right to change the tapas menu through the course of the season. When making a booking please stipulate dietary requirements in advance. Click here to make a reservation.

Giving Back to The Community

Regarding the purchase of a school bus for transporting the children, here is some feedback from Elizabeth Naude, Pebbles’ project manager: “So far we have raised R207 000 towards the bus. With Ford’s generous discount, we still need R363 000. There is a sms donation line, just sms the word PEBBLES to 42646 to donate R30 towards the bus fund. Creation is a unique experience – it was a Monday lunchtime, usually a quiet day in most restaurants – but it was buzzing with activity and animation. We took the tapas menu 8 courses with paired wines and very reasonably priced – interesting one off dishes probably not on your normal radar but delicate flavours and unusual combinations. The sommelier Stephanie was so insightful and passionate about the chosen pairings. This is more an experience than sitting down and having a nice meal and it is a very innovative concept.

We booked a wine tasting here and arrived on a Sunday afternoon to find a very busy restaurant in full swing. No problem, they had our booking, and we were shown to our table. And we got our wine tasting, which was fun and informative. But as Europeans we were expecting something a little more gentile and, er, European … Something along the lines of a small French “degustation”. However, we enjoyed it a great deal, and would go back. But consider what you want from Creation and do your research before you book. It appears to be a very good restaurant, and we kicked ourselves for not booking a meal. We did order a small platter of cheese and cold meats to complement the wines. Excellent! It’s a beautiful setting, and not far in a taxi from Hermanus. Hic!
