In this popular series we feature selected sommeliers from top restaurants around the world. Each chooses his or her favourite Creation wine, tells us why and recommends a matching dish. This week we welcome Gregory Mutambe from the fine dining restaurant Azure at The Twelve Apostles Hotel in Cape Town.
The Creation Art of Pinot Noir is one of the best I have tasted from South Africa. As a true Pinot ambassador it has opulent whiffs of spice, wild mushroom and vibrant fruit such as morello cherry, raspberry and blueberry. The solid tannin structure is perfectly balanced with natural acidity. Decanting is advised for perfect enjoyment now; the wine will certainly reward the patient collector over the next decade.
Look out for Creation’s award-winning wines at the WOZANI Three Wine Men Tasting to be held on 6 September at South Africa House, London. The interest in South African wines is at an all-time high and the acclaimed Oz Clarke (wine writer), Tim Atkin (Master of Wine) and Olly Smith (TV presenter and wine columnist) look forward to showing you why.

Fun at the Hermanus Wine and Food Festival
Creation Wines once again took part in the Hermanus Wine and Food Festival held at Curro School in Hermanus this past weekend. It was lovely to see all our regular clients and to meet some new ones. To add to the good spirit we ran a competition and the lucky winner of the Tapas Pairing for two is: Lehana Evans. Congratulations!
Playground of the Whales
With the whale watching season well under way in Hermanus, it is becoming more and more common to see these giant aquatic mammals frolicking in our waters. One of our clients Therese Cheyne was behind the camera while the whales showed off. Click here to watch the video.

Creation at South African Wine Tasting Championship
The annual South African Wine Tasting Championship (SAWTC) took place last Saturday at the Taj Hotel in Cape Town. In the spirit of ongoing education, and in an attempt to encourage new converts into the closed circle that is the wine world, it allows all wine lovers to put their talents to the test. Our Cape Town ambassador Stephanie van Rooyen was there to represent Creation.

Fabulous food, great wines and good service. Beautiful setting, lovely gardens and artwork and beautifully appointed restaurant. Highlight of the meal for me was a deconstructed tiramisu.

When you arrive there is a chalk board that lists the pairings for the day. We know the wines and trust the quality so generally pick a pairing that sounds good to us and ignore the specific wines. The pairings are fun and creative so this is always a favorite stop. We ordered a cheese pairing that was perfect for the day we visited and just sat and enjoyed the view and the art. Service is great and the wines speak for themselves.
