At Creation we love visitors and the increasing number of wine lovers finding their way to our little piece of paradise is rewarding indeed.
This often quoted statement by Creation co-owner Carolyn Martin only hints at the estate’s proud track record for hospitality and the great experience awaiting visitors to the scenic estate on the Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge near Hermanus. The past year again has seen Creation welcoming visitors from far and wide with feedback ranging from We just loved this young and vibrant, award-winning estate to We never felt rushed and noted how every patron was treated as royalty, children included.
“We thrive on the feedback from our visitors, whether the casual wine lover, the dedicated sommelier or that often feared species, the wine critic!” says Carolyn. Among the many top sommeliers who visited Creation during 2017 have been Luyolo (West) Ngcwabe, Zwai Gumede and Mo Therese. Here are a few of their comments.
Luyolo (West) Ngcwabe – The Cradle, Gauteng:
I find the intensity and complexity of these fresh, elegant, food wines remarkable. I have never experienced a brunch pairing at that level.
Zwai Gumede – Formerly at The Chef’s Table, Durban now at The
Things don’t just happen at Creation they are thought about and that’s what makes the difference.
Mo Therese – Café 99 and Unity Bar, Durban:
The Kiss & Tell tasting is a brave, wonderful example of Creation’s innovation . . .

Reviews from leading wine critics also went a long way to bringing the Creation message home. We take pleasure in bringing you just a few excerpts.
Jamie Goode – renowned UK author and wine columnist:
I’m impressed with Creation.
Neal Martin – highly regarded UK wine critic and author:
The 2015 The Art of Pinot Noir… It has a gutsy, quite intense bouquet with crushed strawberry, raspberry and cranberry fruit that blossoms in the glass.
Greg Sherwood – London-based South African Master of Wine:
[Creation] 2015 Reserve Pinot Noir is fantastically fragrant with lifted aromatics of spiced cherries, cranberries and pomegranate, laced with a granitic minerality. A really beautiful wine.
Matthew Jukes – one of the UK’s most influential wine writers:
2016 Creation Viognier: This unoaked beauty is a stunner with impeccable curves in all of the right places and not an ounce of unwanted flesh on the palate nor the merest pheromone out of place on the nose.
2016 Creation Reserve Chardonnay: . . . a flamboyant temptress which just about keeps both feet on the floor.
Giuseppe Lauria – editor-in-chief of the leading wine publication, WEINWISSER:
I’m happy to tell you that some of your wines are amongst the best I tasted in South Africa.
Looking at these comments there can be little doubt: with Creation you’re in good company! Last but not least a message from co-owners Jean-Claude (JC) and Carolyn Martin.
