On Thursday 15 June Creation Wines hosted an exceptional dinner as part of the annual FynArts Festival in the Overstrand. The menu comprised a delectable three course dinner, paired with Creation’s award-winning wines and accompanied by the sounds of talented local musicians and the works of a gifted local sculptor.
The renowned marimba band from Gansbaai Academia greeted the guests and during this upbeat welcome they were served delicious canapés paired with the Elation MCC. Willie Botha, 2017 resident FynArts sculptor at Creation, then shared his unique vision of art and how his installation called ‘Missing the Fulcrum’ aims to show the rhythmic balance that exists in nature, music, wine and food.
Thereafter guests were treated to violin maestro Ivo Ivanov’s delightful music. Delicately paired with the menu, his programme included classical as well as contemporary compositions to accompany the aptly named ‘Art through the Ages’ menu.
The imaginative menu included an irresistible starter titled ‘Hunter Gatherer’ which was served with the Creation Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon. This was followed by a sumptuous yet beautifully balanced main course representing the ‘Middle Ages’ and paired with the Creation Syrah, Grenache. Last but not least was the innovative, eclectic dessert under the title ‘Modern’ which was perfectly matched by the Creation Viognier. Thus a magnificent culinary exploration of food as art, through the ages!
The band is currently raising funds to enable them to participate in the International Marimba Competition in Boksburg. If you would like to help in any way please contact Gansbaai Academia School – contactmail@gansbaai-academia.

Pebbles News: Fifty Bikes donated by Qhubeka
On Thursday 8 June no less than fifty bikes were donated to learners of the Pebbles Hemel-en-Aarde Education Project. Ian Mills, programme manager at Qhubeka, said the company was extremely privileged to be involved in this project, adding that the donation would help the learners achieve better. Carolyn Martin of Creation Wines, Qhubeka’s partner in this project, said her company wanted to set up a bike bus so that a responsible parent or teacher is leader of the group, accompanying the children to and from school.
Pebbles News: Mobile Schools Health at Pebbles
For Youth Month SA Mobile Schools Health (MSH) visited the Hemel-en-Aarde Community Project where they did a check up on all the learners’ dental hygiene. “A huge thanks to MSH who believes every child should have access to basic health care. And also to Creation Wines for the lovely muffins,” said Pebbles spokesperson Marileze Buys.
I fell in love with Creation Wines even before I tried the wine or spoke to the passionate people behind the vineyard.

My wife doesn’t drink much wine at all so was very surprised that she wanted the seven course option with wine pairings. It was a very good option. The servings were perfect in their size and the wines serves were more like 13 and not 7. I enjoyed the wines and were good enough to purchase a few dozen. I would recommend this winery as a destination for lunch.
