This past week saw the release of the 2016 Creation Syrah, Grenache, one of the estate’s flagship blends and a wine renowned for its remarkable pairing versatility.
The wine has enjoyed great acclaim since the release of the maiden (2007) vintage, with among the latest accolades for the 2015 vintage 92 points allocated by Neal Martin for eRobertParker.com and 93 points allocated by Jamie Goode, a renowned British wine writer with a PhD in Plant Biology.
Creation was the first estate in the Hemel-en-Aarde to plant a Grenache vineyard (in 2003) and the fruitier, floral notes of this cultivar have proven to be the perfect foil for the denser structure and spicy flavours present in the Syrah. The result is a Rhône-style blend that Creation pairing guru, Carolyn Martin, likes to describe as ‘a sly chameleon’ due to its ability to change personality depending on the pairing and even the occasion!

The gifted members of the Creation Culinary Team never rest on their laurels. This week we say a big thank you to chef Bianca de Gois for the recipe of her truly terrific White Chocolate and Vanilla Fondant with a Mango Centre, Charred Naartjie and Mango Curd. The delightfully rich and fruity dessert is a perfect accompaniment to the Creation Chardonnay with its glorious layers of sun-kissed pear and peach enhanced by fresh minerality and a hint of vanilla. Creation Wines … a Remarkable Place
J and I dined at the incredibly stunning Tasting Room at Creation Wines recently. We couldn’t have picked a better venue to celebrate 9 years of ‘new life’ post leukemia, treatment and bone-marrow stem cell transplant. ( . . . ) So yes, a celebration indeed. Creation Wines is a remarkable place with quite an inspiring story to it

Willie Botha’s Art at Creation
Creation Wines has been dedicated to supporting the arts ever since its inception in 2002 and is at present curating a truly exciting installation of sculptures by the gifted South African artist, Willie Botha. This week we’re proud to feature his beautiful ‘Fish Eagle’ which takes pride of place at the entrance to our Tasting Room.
Situated some 18 km from the coastal resort of Hermanus, Creation is more than a wine farm; it is a glorious destination where a warm welcome awaits young and old. Click here to make a reservation. Here are some comments recently made by our visitors:
We arrived at Creation hoping for an intimate meal and were met with a bustling room of holidaymakers all sitting down to lunch at the same time. Fearing the worst we were immediately welcomed by not one but two waitrons who set about explaining the menu and pouring us a taste of the excellent Creation Sauvignon Blanc. We decided on the three course pairing and were blown away not only by the quality of the food, but by the excellent service in the midst of such a busy restaurant. I’ve never been so well attended, even in restaurants a quarter as full. After a while the crowds subsided and we were left with a quieter room in which to enjoy the last course of our meal plus a few more complimentary tastings of wines. The ostrich was particularly well cooked.

Wow – I will never forget the food and wine pairing at Creation Wines and hope to go back again and again. Visited with my parents and brother and can only describe the experience and particularly the food as utterly sensational! A taste explosion. My teenage children were with us [and] enjoyed the afternoon. They both said the dessert was the best they had ever had. My daughter is a vegetarian and had a superb cauliflower steak. Really innovative.
