At the recently held 2020 Wine & Food Tourism Awards, Creation Wines was recognised for the second time as one of the top three honourees in the Innovation category. The Awards were established in 2019 to inspire and promote local wine, food and hospitality in a variety of categories. This year’s entries were judged by a panel of industry experts chaired by Jean-Pierre Rossouw.
Having played a pioneering role in the development of wine and food pairing in the Cape Winelands, the Creation team enjoys an enviable reputation for innovative and ever-evolving wine and food pairing. In entering for the Wine & Food Tourism Awards
, the team submitted their virtual ‘Spreading Creation Magic’ campaign, an initiative designed to mitigate the restrictions imposed by Covid-19 regulations. Creation co-owner Carolyn Martin explains: “Wine and food pairing is an integral part of the Creation experience and it would have been a pity to deny our clients the opportunity. Never daunted by a challenge, we put our heads and hearts together to invent a campaign that brings Creation to you. It comprises a range of wine and food sampling kits and to enjoy a Creation virtual experience, you simply have to order the kit of your choice and set up a date and time with a Creation Personal Shopper.”
According to Carolyn, this is both fun and educational and the level of tasting depends on your preference. “What we probably enjoy most about wine tourism is the interaction with our clients. Every encounter has its own rewards and it is often a casual comment or question that triggers a fresh Creation innovation. Our ‘Spreading Creation Magic’ campaign allows us to engage with our clients, locally as well as internationally. We have already delivered these sensorial offerings to nine countries around the world, thus bringing our Tasting Room to an ever growing market. ”
The Wine & Food Tourism Innovation Awards recognise outstanding and original innovation that makes a valuable and unique contribution, boosting wine tourism in South Africa. Creation is delighted to be among the three top honourees in this category for the second time.
