Platter’s by Diners Club South African Wine Guide has just announced the five-star wines in its 2022 edition and at Creation we’re proud to have no less than four wines in this prestigious line-up. Our top performers are: Creation The Art of Chardonnay 2020, Creation Reserve Chardonnay 2020, Creation The Art of Pinot Noir 2020 and Creation Reserve Pinot Noir 2020.
We are honoured by these ratings coming from what must be South Africa’s most influential wine guide. They certainly bolster our estate’s proud track record for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, which are our flagship cultivars.
The Platter’s Wine Guide is now in its 42nd edition and this year 234 wines across 28 categories have been awarded the coveted 5-star rating. Wines qualifying for this maximum ranking are subjected to a rigorous process of sighted and blind assessment by a team of experts. Only wines judged to be “superlative, a South African classic” are allocated five stars, which is equal to 95 points, or better, on the 100-point rating scale.
We are especially pleased with the Creation Art of Chardonnay 2020 which, at the top of its category, scored 97/100. I like to think of this single-site specific, barrel selection as the ‘Queen of White Wines’ – a wine with steely tension, yet elegantly refined.

Creation in the news

The process which sees whole bunches (grapes, stems and all) being placed into fermentation vessels and left to ferment seems relatively simple. However, this is far from the case - there are many complexities for the winemaker to bear in mind. Fact is however that this traditional approach can add nuances to wine which no other fermentation technique can. Click to read Glenn Martin’s blog on Whole Bunch Fermentation.
Situated some 18 km from the coastal resort of Hermanus, Creation is more than a wine farm; it is a glorious destination where a warm welcome awaits young and old. Click here to make a reservation.
