Announcing: The Creation Aromatic Winter Experience!
When Jean-Claude (JC) and Carolyn Martin established Creation Wines on the Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge in 2002, the land had never been planted to vines before. This offered the inventive couple a blank canvas on which they’ve been creating exciting innovations ever since. Thanks to this trendsetting spirit, the Creation team has played a pioneering role in developing wine and food pairing in the Cape Winelands, with their ever-evolving pairings becoming world-famous.
The latest in their repertoire is The Creation Aromatic Winter Experience which, aimed at heightening your sense of taste and smell, promises to be yet another unique pairing adventure, says an enthusiastic Carolyn. As indicated by the title, the focus is on the aromatics of wine and food pairing and the menu is an extension of the estate’s recently launched Perfume of Wine. “Since 80% of flavour is aroma and 20% is taste, we decided to expand our exploration of aroma within a veritable feast of flavours during the cosy months of winter.
“Our sense of smell plays a vital role in determining our mood and memory, and our new menu sets out to take you on a culinary journey of wellbeing by highlighting aroma whilst stimulating all your senses.”
That being said, what can we expect from the brand-new Creation Aromatic Winter Experience? Six delectable chapters or courses with each dish artfully paired with a Creation wine, the menu offers a choice between canapés and small-plate servings. A novel feature is the profoundly aromatic ginger-infused tea offered as a Welcome Drink to awaken the senses.
The first course takes you on a sensory journey, from Switzerland to the Cape, with Potato Celery Rosti and Goat’s Cream Cheese served with spicy Dhal Soup and paired with the amazingly fragrant Creation Sauvignon Blanc.
Bearing in mind that this is a winter menu, you can also look forward to heart and soul-warming combinations such as the Steamed Cob served with Gochujang, Lime and Dashi which is beautifully enhanced by Creation’s cool-climate Chardonnay.
Another winter winner is the Bacon Wrapped Springbok Loin with Exotic Mushrooms, which perfectly paired with the Creation Pinot Noir, spells sheer aromatic alchemy. And what can be more rewarding on a chilly winter’s day than the voluptuous Creation Syrah, Grenache served with a flavoursome Three Bean Duck Cassoulet? An aromatic bouquet garni smudge-stick adds signature Creation innovation.
For dessert, think charisma, with the vivaciously perfumed Creation Viognier complementing an enticing Naartjie Crêpe Suzette. And then, to cap it all is the sweet temptation of the Creation Fine Cape Vintage, bridged by a Von Geusau Cape Vintage Praline Truffle.
