Having overcome the first wave of Covid-19 thanks to the courage and adaptability of our team, we now face the second wave with the benefit of experience and hindsight.
Safety ensures sustainability, so however adventurous and innovative we are, we decided to close the Creation Tasting Room until the alcohol ban is lifted. This is being done to minimise risk and relieve pressure on the healthcare system.
In the spirit of the season of goodwill the Creation Culinary Team decided to prepare a special teatime treat for our local healthcare workers, sending a message of gratitude, appreciation and solidarity. These gluten-free carrot and oatmeal cookies have a super low GI index and are as healthy as they are scrumptious – carrot cake eat your heart out! A big thank you to the generous Hermanus residents who already joined this initiative. Click here for the recipe, should you decide to do the same or simply want to enjoy a healthy treat at home. At the same time we would love you to share your recipes with us! Healthcare workers, we would value any suggestions from you.
At Creation our glasses remain half full rather than half empty and we will continue to seek new ways of bringing Creation to you. I want to urge you to stay home and stay safe but do connect with us virtually on any of the platforms below:
Updates from Creation
In the meantime our vineyard team is working around the clock to ensure a healthy harvest. Canopy management is critical at this time and this includes opening up leaf canopies for light penetration and air movement. We are also green harvesting where necessary to ensure the right concentration in the remaining bunches. The grapes for our Art of Chardonnay and Art of Pinot Noir are looking good so far as can be seen in the pic below. Currently, we expect the harvest to be two weeks later than last year, with slightly cooler conditions than usual during the growth period so far. The success of the harvest relates to the winter of 2019, and it was cold with a good dormancy period. This is a little known fact: the quality of a vintage is partly determined by the winter dormancy period two years prior.
Members of our marketing team have been taking photos for clients and below you can witness the dedication and lengths to which they go to get a great shot. Sometimes we need a bit of wacky fun to counter the chaos!
Situated some 18 km from the coastal resort of Hermanus, Creation is more than a wine farm; it is a glorious destination where a warm welcome awaits young and old. Click here to make a reservation.
