When it comes to the appreciation of fine wine, Riedel bespoke cold-cut crystal glassware has been one of my great personal discoveries. But it’s not only wine that is greatly enhanced when enjoyed from a Riedel glass …
In the spirit of innovation and inclusivity, Creation also offers an amazingly aromatic and richly rewarding Non-Alcoholic Tea Pairing experience. This means your designated driver can have as much of a good time as the rest of your group, sipping choice teas, also from Riedel glassware!
To discover why Riedel is our choice, and also that of the most famous Pinot Noir producers in Burgundy, don’t miss our exclusive ‘What’s in a Glass’ wine tasting and dinner on the 22nd of July. Join us for a fabulously informative evening to experience fine crystal, award-winning wines, wholesome food and good company and find out why shape and size matter!
Winter in the Vineyards
Pruning is the most important operation performed during winter dormancy as it affects several aspects of vine growth. The timing can often influence how early or late in spring bud-break occurs, which in turn will influence the harvest date of the following vintage.
The most obvious result of pruning is greater control over the fruit producing parts of the vines, but pruning is also a significant tool for balancing vegetative growth with fruiting. A healthy canopy is essential for the development of the fruit and the pruning of young vineyards has a direct influence on the root mass that develops.
A vital aspect of pruning at Creation is the virus-free status of the grafting material we supply to Vititec, to establish new vineyard sites across the South African Winelands. This is an important factor in sustainability and longevity as vine viruses (especially leafroll) are regarded as one of the wine producer’s biggest enemies. They have the potential not only to reduce the lifespan of a vineyard drastically but also to seriously hamper the quality of the grapes.
