This past week saw the 2023 Regional Great Wine Capitals (GWC) Best of Wine Tourism Awards ceremony where the Creation team was honoured to win in two of the seven Western Cape categories: Best in Wine Tourism Restaurants and Best in Arts and Culture.

Great Wine Capitals is a network of major global cities sharing a key economic and cultural asset: their internationally renowned wine regions. Now in its 24th year, GWC’s Best of Wine Tourism Awards is an international competition designed to reward the wineries in member cities and wine regions that have distinguished themselves in terms of delivering quality experiences to the public.

Responding to the Wine Tourism Restaurant Award which the estate also won last year, Creation co-owner Carolyn Martin said it confirmed that the brand is all it claims to be and that this especially relates to Creation’s commitment to lasting sustainability. Our innovative culinary team is dedicated to using fresh locally sourced produce and the chain effect has a huge positive impact on both the environment and the local economy.”

With regard to the style of the restaurant, Carolyn said: “Creation is a living, thinking wine estate pulsing with collective energy and brimming with bright ideas. We regard our restaurant as an innovation hub where families and friends meet to celebrate, map future destinations and reflect on milestones achieved. World-class wines, creative cuisine and magnificent scenery all combine to indulge the senses and inspire the soul.”

Commenting on the Arts and Culture Award, Carolyn said: “Our guests appreciate novel, authentic experiences and often comment on how wonderful it is to be treated to wines and food that are artfully, thoughtfully and lovingly created to reflect our pristine environment. Our art exhibitions enhance this experience.” Among the latest exhibitions hosted by Creation has been a collection of sculptures by the talented local artist, Kathy Robins. “It is aptly titled ‘RE-TURN’ and bridges the fields of fine art and sustainable social development, thus resonating with the emphasis we place on sustainability within our context.”

Asked what the prestigious awards mean to Creation, Carolyn concluded saying, “We are very proud of this recognition as it speaks of our dedication and aspiration to excel and deliver a unique, innovative and educative tourism experience. As a team, we actively engage with, and listen to all our stakeholders, including our valued clients and our community. We are therefore delighted to share the recognition of these world-class experiences with them.”
