Creation Supports HBC’s ‘Local is Lekker’ Campaign
The Hermanus Business Chamber recently launched a Support Hermanus – Local is Lekker campaign, and our co-founder and creative director Carolyn Martin was one of the guest speakers at the launch event.
‘I believe it is one of the most exciting initiatives to be launched in this region and is likely to be a blueprint for a new way forward – for all of us,’ said Carolyn.

The Tasting Room at Creation has received a coveted One Plate award for Excellent Cuisine in the ‘globally inspired, locally rooted’ JHP Gourmet Guide 2026, which is celebrating a decade of ‘championing excellence and driving change within the South African culinary landscape’.
Showcasing only 50 restaurants countrywide, the guide sums up The Tasting Room as ‘taste refined, wellness aligned’ – a vision shaped by co-founder and creative director Carolyn Martin, with head chef Eleanor Coetzee.
Our sensory food-and-wine pairing is praised as ‘a tasting that is joyful, considered and layered… [It] proves that fine dining can align with wellness without compromising on flavour… Here, everything respects season and site. It is […] a true expression of the region’s food and wine for guests to truly connect with their senses.’
Jenny Handley, the founder and curator of the guide, explains the choice of ‘plates’ as ratings: ‘Just as the Michelin stars or Australian chef hats are iconic, our Plates are symbolic of the full dining experience, from the kitchen brigade and local producers to seasonal sourcing, innovation and artistry. We honour fine-dining and refined-dining restaurants where artisanal chefs elevate food to a true craft.’

There are over 100 ‘Fine Wine, Rare Spirit & Experience’ Auction Lots up for grabs in this year’s Golden Vines Online Auction, including a wonderful one from Creation Wines.
The Auction is produced by Liquid Icons for the benefit of the Gérard Basset Foundation, which was established to honour and further the legacy of Gérard Basset OBE MS MW. Its mission is to empower disadvantaged communities and uplift under-represented professionals in wine, spirits and hospitality, and it has already directly impacted 1,600 beneficiaries in more than 30 countries globally.
Creation’s ‘Sustainability Lot’ includes a three-night stay for two guests in our eco-designed Voormanshuis on Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge, plus a guided food and wine pairing, a vineyard walk, and six bottles from our flagship Art of Creation collection. The winning bidder will also connect with the community by visiting the Pebbles Hemel-en-Aarde Education Project, embark on an ‘Eat Like a Local’ culinary tour, and join a marine conservation boat excursion.
