Creation’s 2024 Releases: Powerful MW Endorsement, especially for our Pinot Noirs
Creation’s 2024 releases of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge have earned a powerful endorsement from London-based Master of Wine Greg Sherwood, who describes Creation as ‘leading the quality charge’.
Sherwood’s message is clear: Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge has become one of South Africa’s most exciting addresses for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, and he sees Creation at the forefront of this evolution. Describing our 2024 releases as wines of tension, clarity and precision, he has awarded the following scores:
Creation Art of Pinot Noir 2024 – 96 points
Creation Emma’s Pinot Noir 2024 – 95+ points
Creation Art of Chardonnay 2024 – 96+ points
Creation Glenn’s Chardonnay 2024 – 96 points
While the Chardonnays earn high praise for their classical restraint and sense of place, it is the Pinots that Sherwood singles out as especially thrilling. He notes that these are wines that no longer need to be described as ‘good for South Africa’ but can stand confidently in any international lineup.
For Creation, this reinforces the message that decades of site selection, clonal work and meticulous farming on the Ridge are now translating into Pinot Noirs with both immediate charm and serious ageing potential.

Creation Wines is ending the year on a high note after hearing that Decanter’s regional editor, Julie Sheppard, has included Glenn’s Chardonnay 2023 among her top 12 South African wines of 2025 with an outstanding 96-point rating.
In her article, Sheppard praises the wine’s drive, texture and sense of place, noting how its savoury structure, shimmering minerality and nuanced fruit mark it out as one of the Cape’s most compelling Chardonnays, with a drinking window stretching to 2033.
