Culture in Agriculture

Culture in Agriculture is Creation’s theme for 2025, and we’re delighted that Farmer’s Weekly senior journalist Glenneis Kriel completely ‘gets it’ in this comprehensive feature article entitled Living the ‘culture’ in agriculture.

‘Our aim is to create a culture of wine in South Africa,’ says Carolyn Martin in the article. ‘According to feedback from some guests, the experience in our restaurant has resulted in life-changing plans.’

We encourage you to read the article about our journey so far, turning a rundown sheep farm into one of the finest wineries in South Africa and a top tourism destination.

We also encourage you to book for our Summer Pairing Menu, which celebrates the connections we have created between wine, food, and people – people including Christine Stevens, author of the Harvest series of books, who grows our edible flowers and herbs and creates the herbal teas and vinegars that we use to enhance many of our dishes.

‘It’s really important that we get back to seasonal eating and understand where our food comes from,’ says Christine in this insightful video segment.

Hallgarten Trade Tasting UK

This week, our cellarmaster Jean-Claude Martin visited London to take part in The Annual Tasting of Hallgarten & Novum Wines, our UK importer and distributor, where he enjoyed reconnecting with clients and other familiar faces. Among the notable attendees were Dr Jamie Goode, Greg Sherwood MW, and Jo Wehring and Claudia Pritchard from Wines of South Africa UK (all pictured above with JC). It was a fabulous tasting event, filled with exceptional wines and great company. Cheers to another successful gathering! 🍷

Celebration of Pinot Noir & Chardonnay 2025

For the past 10 years, the iconic Pinot Noir Celebration has showcased the red variety that flourishes in the unique terroir of Hemel-en-Aarde. This year, for the first time, we proudly expanded the celebration to include Chardonnay, solidifying our position as South Africa’s premier wine-growing area for these two noble varieties.

The weekend was a resounding success! It was filled with vibrant activities and master classes, offering wine lovers a rare opportunity to experience the best of Hemel-en-Aarde’s wines, people, and breathtaking natural beauty. It was a celebration to remember, and we look forward to seeing you all at the next one. 🎉
