FynArts of Agriculture: A Preview of Creation’s Winter Menu

Where Heaven and Earth Meet in Every Bite

As winter embraces Hemel-en-Aarde, Creation Wines unveils its most ambitious seasonal menu yet: ‘FynArts of Agriculture’ – a sensory celebration that transforms dining into a true artistic experience.

Creation’s winter offering isn’t just a meal; it’s a multi-sensory journey through one of the world’s most biodiverse wine regions, nestled in the heart of the Cape Floral Kingdom. Drawing inspiration from the Hermanus FynArts festival and our surrounding landscape, our winter menu weaves together indigenous ingredients, artistic presentation, and our internationally acclaimed cool-climate wines.

In addition to the menu, our tasting room will proudly host a captivating FynArts exhibition featuring the remarkable works of sculptress Nanette Ranger and artist Jero Revett. This collaboration embodies our Connect, Collaborate, and Innovate philosophy, creating a dynamic synergy between art, wine and cuisine that reimagines natural materials and forms while celebrating the connection between art, nature and gastronomy.

A Ballet of Flavours

Just as ballet dancers refine their craft through years of discipline, our winter menu represents the culmination of patient cultivation and artistic expression. The name ‘Creation’ is inspired by nature itself, and this connection shines through in every element of our winter experience.

From the moment you arrive, you’ll be immersed in the FynArts philosophy. Your journey will begin with our handwash ceremony featuring neroli essential oil and indigenous confetti bush – setting the stage for the sensory adventure ahead. Each course tells a story of our terroir, from vibrant spinach and watercress soup with rosemary tuile to elegant trout ballotine accompanied by honeybush dashi.

Indigenous fynbos elements feature prominently throughout the menu, celebrating our region’s extraordinary botanical diversity. Experience the delicate umami notes of honeybush dashi, enhancing fish dishes and meat dishes alike. Discover the mineral-rich character of dune spinach accompanying our springbok loin. Savour the unique aromatic depth that these native plants can provide, not only delivering exceptional flavour profiles that perfectly complement our wines but also connecting your dining experience to our unique landscape.

Wines That Tell Our Story

In vineyards located a mere 9km from Walker Bay, Creation’s cool maritime climate creates wines of remarkable complexity and elegance. The extended growing season allows our grapes to develop intense flavours while maintaining vibrant acidity, resulting in Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs that rival the finest from Burgundy.

Each wine pairing has been meticulously crafted to create what we call ‘textural dialogue’ – where the silky tannins of our Pinot Noir complement the lean richness of springbok, and the vibrant acidity of our Reserve Chardonnay cuts through the umami depth of honeybush dashi.

Beyond Gastronomy: A Complete Sensory Experience

Our winter menu engages all eight senses thanks to thoughtful elements such as our seasonal winter playlist that progresses throughout the day, complementing the evolving ambiance from morning mist to evening warmth while enhancing the tasting experience.

For those seeking plant-based options, rest assured that these aren’t afterthoughts but carefully crafted alternatives that provide the same wine pairing experience, from plant-based delicacies to umami-rich tempeh.

A Commitment to Community

When you dine at Creation, your experience creates positive ripples throughout our community. Through our partnership with the Pebbles Project, each dining experience creates six meals for a child in need. By working with local ingredients and local people, we create eleven jobs for every person visiting our tasting room.

This winter, join us in celebrating the ‘CULTURE’ in Agri-CULTURE – where biodiversity, artistic expression and exceptional wines come together to create moments of true connection with our unique corner of Heaven and Earth.
