Wine and Wellness – L’Chaim!
One of our greatest pleasures at Creation is the sharing of good wine paired with good food whilst interacting with our guests in the Tasting Room. Not only is it an opportunity to showcase the many joys of ‘what grows together goes together’, it allows us to listen and react to their requirements and preferences.
Healthy eating options matter to our valued guests and in response we are presenting a series of Wine and Wellness workshops, titled L’Chaim! This is done in collaboration with Eat Better SA and specialists in stress management. If you’re not able to attend in person, we’ll be sharing valuable nuggets from our speakers’ talks as well as their contact details in future newsletters and blogs.
We want the Creation Experience to be a feel-good one: for our guests, our team and our community!

Cape Wine Auction
The Cape Wine Auction (CWA), one of South Africa’s premier annual charity events, took place on 12 February 2022 at Quoin Rock after a break last year due to the COVID pandemic. More than R12 million was raised to support children in need in the Cape Winelands.
Creation, teaming up with generous partners and friends, offered two lots: ‘Celebrating Goodness – Across Continents’ and ‘Share in a Tuscan Dream’. Both lots were dedicated to the Pebbles Hemel-en-Aarde Education Project, aimed at changing the trajectory of local children in our region.
After the event Auctioneer and Trustee Iain Banner commented: “It is amazing how, after this lockdown, people are coming together and deciding it is time to move on and trying to make a big difference in children’s lives, which is what last night was about.”
From Creation, I would like to express a huge thank you to the winning bidders as well as our partners in the two Creation lots:
Grootbos Nature Reserve and Lady Stanford River Cruise
Restaurant JAN
Bunan, Pieracci and Le Méditerranée
Baptiste Quinard
Villa Saletta, Tuscany – Guy and Julia Hands
Lloyd Meaker (1st check if he wants to be mentioned)
Daniel Mueller (1st check if he wants to be mentioned)

ClimaVin Workshop brings New Insights
ClimaVin is a collaboration between: University of Stellenbosch; KU Leuven; University of the Western Cape; Chinese Academy of Sciences; The National Research Foundation; Belgium Science Policy Office; The Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China.
Creation is proud to be associated with the ClimaVin project which explores the effects of climate change on the microbial wine terroir, and we attended a workshop on 8 and 9 February at the Stellenbosch Institute for Advanced Study, Wallenberg. Among the topics close to our heart was the Preliminary Results on Cool-climate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in South Africa.
“The workshop gave the new postgraduate students from Stellenbosch the opportunity to meet and contextualize their projects within the consortium. The excursion to Bosman Hermanus and Creation contributed greatly in the understanding of making terroir specific wines in cool climate.” – Dr Erna Blancquaert, Stellenbosch University
“I enjoyed the workshop and experienced it as an inclusive knowledge exchange environment where I got to learn from our collaborators and I got some understanding of the real challenges on the farms, the potential impact of recent heatwave events and how our ClimaVin project can help to generate insights on the impact of climate change on grape and wine production.” – Dr Evodia Setati, Stellenbosch University
