Great Wine Capitals (GWC) has just announced the winners of their 2024 Regional Best of Wine Tourism Awards and the Creation Wines team is delighted to have won in two of the Western Cape categories: Wine Tourism Services and Art and Culture.
Now in its 25th year, GWC’s Best of Wine Tourism Awards is an international competition designed to reward the wineries in member cities and wine regions that have distinguished themselves in terms of delivering quality experiences to the public.
Creation Wines is no newcomer to the GWC stage. The estate has been among the regional as well as the global winners since 2010. Last year saw the team in the limelight as winners of both the Regional Wine Tourism Restaurants and Art and Culture Awards.
With regard to the 2024 GWC Wine Tourism Services Award, Creation Creative Director Carolyn Martin says: “There is an emerging market hungry for knowledge and new experiences. At Creation, we use the collective intelligence of our diverse team not only to connect with this market but also to co-create with them. We pride ourselves on being a relationship-oriented company and our commitment to sustainability embraces our land, our team, our community and our clients. An example is our active engagement with our guests in the Tasting Room which has the tremendous advantage of a two-way conversation. We tell them our story of expertise, passion and innovation; they react by telling us what their needs are. And we listen to them.”
The team is also thrilled to have won the GWC Art and Culture Award for the second time.“Transformative experiences are what our guests are looking for and Nature is the very inspiration and innovation that is Creation,” says Carolyn. On arrival, there is Nature’s spectacular greeting: an amphitheatre formed by towering mountain peaks linking the earth to the sky, with undulating hills of flourishing fynbos between the manicured vineyards. This inspirational backdrop creates an ideal canvas for a variety of artistic expressions and genres. An example is Creation’s current exhibition, titled ‘Equilibrium’, which showcases the work of talented local artists, Nanette and Sean Ranger. “Our collaboration is aimed at offering our guests an experience which celebrates the connection between humanity and the beautifully complex world around us,” explains Carolyn.
Asked what the two prestigious GWC awards mean to Creation, Carolyn says: “GWC showcases the greatest wine regions of the world and the very best of what they have to offer. At Creation we are proud to be among these star performers again this year and recognise all our stakeholders as an integral part of our success.”
