Spring arrives in the Southern Cape with quiet exuberance, coaxing new green shoots from weathered fynbos and unfurling a thousand blossoms under the wide Western Cape sky.

At Creation Wines, this reawakening of the land is more than a season – it is a living tapestry woven from the threads of ancient soils, indigenous flora, vibrant communities, and a winemaking tradition deeply rooted in place.

This spring, we invite you to join us for an immersive exploration of South Africa’s natural abundance with our Power of Flowers Heritage Menu, where each course pays tribute to the genius of our terroir and the profound beauty of the Cape Floral Kingdom.

Few places on earth boast the staggering biodiversity of the Cape Floristic Region, and nowhere is the influence of fynbos more lovingly celebrated than in the Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge. Over 9,600 plant species – many found nowhere else – thrive in our region, their resilience and fragrance infusing every breeze and every drop of wine. Our new menu pays homage to this heritage, highlighting edible flowers and indigenous herbs not merely as garnishes but as bearers of stories, symbols, and wellbeing. Each floral note and wild ingredient has been thoughtfully selected to awaken the senses and deepen your connection to our extraordinary terroir.

Spring embodies hope and renewal, themes that echo through every element of the Power of Flowers menu. From the very first moment, our goal is to evoke a sense of wonder and belonging, inviting you not just to dine, but to fully experience and celebrate the unique environment that shapes our wines and our lives.

The experience begins with a mindful handwash, the warmth of rose geranium and olive oil mingling in an abalone shell, gently drawing you into a space of gratitude and anticipation. Confetti bush, long revered for its aromatic calm, sets the scene, grounding our welcome in Southern Cape tradition.

Every course that follows is a conversation between vineyard and veld. In each pairing, you’ll find wine and dish woven together with indigenous flowers including jasmine, nasturtium, waterblommetjies, and borage. These are not only stunning to behold and a delight on the palate, but also ancient bearers of meaning – from jasmine’s promise of new beginnings to nasturtium’s spirit of resilience. Traditionally used to calm, heal and uplift, these botanical companions offer profound health benefits, thus creating a sensory ceremony that nourishes both body and soul.

Our spring menu also honours our South African heritage by reimagining classics: umfino as a wild greens taco with foraged dune spinach, the beloved fish and chips transformed through local aquaculture (trout) and fynbos ‘vegetables’, and the soulful comfort of milk tart and malva pudding elevated by the floral enchantment of pelargonium and alyssum. Each plate tells a story of adaptation, creativity, and respect for the land – from the indigenous Khoisan’s wild foraging wisdom to the Cape winemakers’ art of coaxing world-class wines from ancient shale soils and cool Atlantic breezes.

This menu is also a celebration of community and stewardship. Our partnership with the Pebbles Project – empowering local families and providing meals for children – underscores our belief that true hospitality is inseparable from caring for people and planet. Every bloom on your plate, and every note in the ‘Power of Flowers’ soundscape, resonates with our commitment to sustainable practices, indigenous knowledge, and a future where growth is measured in both flavour and flourishing ecosystems.

Spring at Creation is an invitation: to reconnect with the living gifts of the land, to savour wines and dishes that capture a fleeting moment in Cape nature, and to discover the emotional, sensorial, and symbolic power of flowers. In celebrating spring’s return, we honour not only our local heritage but also the universal longing for renewal, beauty, and belonging.

We can’t wait to welcome you to the Power of Flowers table. Next week, we’ll share the full menu and every detail of the experience so that you can begin your own journey into the heart of our land adorned with the vibrant tapestry of spring.
