‘In Bordeaux, I tasted history. In Napa, I tasted ambition. In South Africa, I tasted life itself.’ – A Japanese wine collector after visiting Creation
The Magic of Place
When you step into Creation in the Hemel en Aarde—literally ‘Heaven and Earth’—you’re immediately embraced by an amphitheatre of fynbos-clad mountains. Our tasting room, with its seamless indoor-outdoor design, doesn’t just showcase our wines—it connects you directly to the exceptional place where they’re born.
This connection is at the heart of what makes wine tourism so powerful. It’s one thing to enjoy a bottle of Creation Chardonnay in your home; it’s entirely another to experience it while gazing across the very vineyards where those grapes developed their character, feeling the caress of the Atlantic breezes that influenced their development, and sharing the moment with the people who nurture these vines daily.

Beyond Tasting: The Agri-CULTURE Approach
At Creation, we recognise that winemaking exists at a profound intersection—where the cultivation of land meets the cultivation of human expression. This is the essence of our Agri-CULTURE philosophy.
Recently, we captured this symbiosis by filming ballet dancers moving gracefully through our vineyards at dawn during harvest. As they performed, our skilled team conducted their own rhythmical dance—meticulously selecting perfect clusters with practiced hands. Both dancers and harvesters displayed remarkable discipline, grace, and tenacity, each movement purposeful and refined. Click here to watch the video.
With harvest now complete, our viticulture team is taking a well-deserved small break before preparing the soil for new plantings and beginning the crucial pruning season. Meanwhile, in the cellar, wines are being ‘put to bed’ in the maturation cellar, bottling is happening for certain wines, and finished products are being delivered to markets throughout South Africa, Africa, and around the world. So, while nature moves towards winter hibernation, Creation continues to pulse with activity.
This parallel celebrates the artisanal craftsmanship essential to creating wines of distinction. When you visit Creation, you’re not just tasting wine—you’re experiencing the intersection of nature, artistry, and human dedication.

The Wellness Connection
What truly brings guests back to Creation is how they feel during and after their time with us. Our multisensory approach creates experiences that leave guests feeling well—physically and emotionally.
Take our Art of Chardonnay tasting, where we present guests with our ‘shell phone’—connecting them to the Atlantic influences that shape our wines. These sensory bridges create powerful memory anchors that draw guests back time and again.
Our wellness-focused approach extends to our anti-inflammatory, flexitarian menus designed with medical professionals. Currently, we’re delighting guests with our beautiful Autumn Menu, and our culinary team has done an exceptional job developing our upcoming Winter Pairing Menu. Launching in early June, this new menu follows Ayurvedic principles and features seasonal ingredients that complement our wines perfectly. Nature is the common thread between wine and wellness, and working with nature is the very inspiration behind Creation.

The Human Element
These connections begin with our people—recruited locally and developed through comprehensive training. Their genuine warmth creates the personal relationships that guests consistently mention as their reason for returning.
According to a Geisenheim University report, South Africa leads globally in hiring locally and respecting labour laws—this is the cornerstone of sustainable wine tourism. When you experience Creation, you’re participating in community development that transforms casual visitors into loyal advocates.

Sharing Our Story Globally
As we continue to participate in global wine tourism panel discussions and collaborate with think tanks like Areni Global, we’re sharing the Creation approach with the world. Recently, we participated in the World Travel Market panel discussion on wine tourism, sharing our insights and experiences with industry leaders.
In February, we also represented South African wine tourism at Wine Paris, highlighting the crucial role that wine tourism plays in the rise of the African wine trade. By welcoming visitors to experience our terroir firsthand, we’re not just creating memorable experiences, we’re building lasting ambassadors for South African wines on the global stage.
We’re also excited to be part of the upcoming South African Wine Tourism Conference happening in Stellenbosch on Thursday, 8 May at Lanzerac. Please click here to learn more about this important event that brings together the best minds in wine tourism.
Yet nothing compares to experiencing Creation firsthand. Each season brings new expressions of our terroir. The vineyard you saw in summer reveals different secrets in autumn. The Pinot Noir you enjoyed during your last visit evolves, telling new stories with each vintage.
