Creation Wines is delighted to have three of their flagship wines scoring 95 and more in the Tim Atkin MW South Africa 2022 Special Report. The 2021 Creation Glenn’s Chardonnay is rated 96, the 2021 Creation Art of Chardonnay 95 and the 2021 Creation Art of Pinot Noir 96. These three top achievers are among Tim’s Wines of the Year.
In his recently published report, Tim, who is a British Master of Wine and widely regarded as an expert on South African wines, has awarded no less than nine Creation wines 91 points and more. The fact that these not only include the estate’s signature Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, but also their Syrah, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon, underscores their wine expertise across a wider range.
Commenting on the entirely wild yeast fermented 2021 Creation Glenn’s Chardonnay, Tim says: “Glenn Martin has a hand in this brilliant Chardonnay, working alongside his dad, JC. Savoury and complex, with sourdough, citrus and quince flavours and the minerality and palate length that are features of the top Creation whites.”
In praise of the 2021 Creation The Art of Chardonnay Tim remarks: “If you’re going to call your wine The Art of Chardonnay, it had better be good. And this wine most certainly is. Sourced from a 1.6-hectare block planted with the CY95 and 96 clones in 2002, this has wonderful intensity, structure and tension, with nutty, wild yeast complexity, fennel and fynbos top notes and a very fresh finish.”
Of the 2021 Creation The Art of Pinot Noir, Tim says: “The Art has impressed since its first release in 2013. Made with clone 115, it comes from a 2.2-hectare parcel close to the winery, and has the structure and concentration to age. Dark and brooding, with lots of blood and guts, notes of wild herbs, pepper and orange zest, 80% whole bunches and a core of dark cherry fruit.”
